Good Price on Makita Angle Grinder

Just ordered myself a new angle grinder as my old clarke one was getting abit noisey and rattly

Got a makita one for £36.90 delivered

which is about £15 cheaper than they're going in screwfix and the like

thought it might be useful for people. Obviously if they're close to you you could buy it direct from the shop and save another £6 on postage!

I spent ages looking around for one and this one was the best one i could fine for the price. It has a switch that when its let go off the machine turns off for safety, the ones with the switch that stays switched on always after some use gets very hard to turn off, to unclip it. This is why i had bought this one instead and is 800w of power too. I have been using it for a few weeks and like it a lot, very light to use also.

They are called Paddle switches, all my grinders are that type. There is a little tab at the back that allows you to hold the paddle in, pull the paddle in to release

I got mine FOC today - needed some grinding discs, flap discs and cutting discs - spend £100 at my local BOC and the matika grinder is free

I needed all the stuff anyway and was going to spend £70 just purchased another box to trip the £100 mark

Just ordered on myself, Nice slim body for one handed use,I have 2 others but both have larger body and make single handed use a bit of a pain, All my grinders are 5" and I have quite a lot of stock, I know with some makes you can still squeeze a 5" disc into a 115mm guard,If not I will just mod the guard a little, An ebay seller used to sell 5" guards seperate for 2 or 3 quid,but I can't find any at the moment.

It still amazes me that so many on-line retailers are doing so well that they don't need to bother providing sensible postage rates for a sizeable UK market (not just NI but parts of Scotland etc too).

I know couriers charge more and that's fair enough as there are clearly additional costs for them but it is possible to get sensibly priced delivery too.

Fortunately, some retailers do take the trouble - I deal with them!!!

As per my post above, we're only in our second month of trading online, so our number of shipments are still steadily increasing on a daily basis.

We're not ignoring the needs of our Scottish, Irish or Continental cousins, and as soon as we can negotiate more favourable shipping terms, we will of course pass those preferred rates on.

Jon, do you happen to know if replacement carbon motor brushes are available for these Makita grinders? I'm careful and gentle on grinders and drills but use them a lot in car restoration, hence the brushes wear out on a perfect otherwise tool. I'm likely to wear out the brushes on this grinder within a year or so. Do you supply carbon brushes, or does the grinder come with a spare in the packet?
