What's the offcut's purpose?

I'm trying to make a power scraper (poor man's Biax) from a Cengar air saw.
The hole is to fix the carbide to the tool.

I'm trying to make a power scraper (poor man's Biax) from a Cengar air saw.
The hole is to fix the carbide to the tool.

I can see a backache coming or at least I would end up with one using an air saw to scrape a floor. I have a 6” wide double handles scraper that works well but it only gets used for small areas

I looked at the bottom photo and thought “oh good, a video”. I clicked on the pointed arrow and nothing happened . I then put my glasses on and recognised it was part of your workpiece.
