I presume the standards are the same in Ireland as the UK and Europe to standards you need to look out for on the box is EN175 and ANSIZ87.1 my helmet is vision Guardian it wasn't cheap at €160
from my local tool supplier the shell is made of impact resistance polypropylene there is no flash and a cigarette lighter would trigger it

I always go for esab Eyetech helmets, Have bought a few new, but they are very often on ebay and i have paid between 30 and 60 quid for new/lightly used ones. I rate the eyetech helmets highly. Also take the air feed packs for any prolonged welding

alright boyz, on the subject of hangovers have you tried inhaleing oxygen from the end of your burner, anyway ive had a few new helmets now not sure what make ill have a look tomorrow but what i did notice while drinking tea & reading the enclosed documents is that the helmet had a 7 year lifespan but according to the accompanying docs it was already 3 years old has anyone else noticed this
