Don't have any suggestions for actual hustles, other than to not let the doom mongers on here grind you down.
There's far too many tales of horrible places to work, horrid bosses and competent, smart people being treated like poo.

It's tremendous that your employer seems like a clear exception and I'm sure it's almost certainly down to how you treat them as well! So good luck with the endeavour, and hopefully all the naysayers have got it out of their system by now.

Fred my friend in general i like your posts and enjoy your imput around here, BUT you do throw your dummy (Pacifier your end) out of the pram at the smallest and un-important things The kid wont take your advice or listen, and ??? move on mate and dont hate.....Thick skinned here so empty the chamber on me.

That’s a good idea. Nice and simple and I’m well into my cars.

Shouldn’t blow up killing a load of school kids and puppies bringing my workplace into dispute either.

We actually used to produce series 1 Land Rover bulkhead replacements. Still have a few laying about.

Well, sure, but the original query was "what should I make?" rather than "what are the employment and liability pitfalls?".

With all those facilities at you hand make some van vault style drawers for vans. Make one and see if it’s profitable and if so offer your boss a few quid for every one you build for using the facilities just make sure you do it in your time. Sounds like you have got a good boss who will help you. Not many of them about.

If you've got the skills to design buildable and profitable widgets, do that. You can farm out the physical work to your place of work or elsewhere if needs be.
