Palm oil, flat eggs?

Thats right. The bean counters (literally in this case) have destroyed chocolate.

Is Cadbury a glass and a half of milk anymore? Or is it 1x glass of milk and 1/2 cheaper palm oil?

I'd rather pay more and have a decent product. Not only do bars shrink in size every year, they are moving to palm oil ingredients thats barely legal to call it chocolate. And now some easter eggs have a flat shape - has anyone noticed this?

Any good real chocolate to look out for in UK supermarkets please? I can't say I notice a huge difference in dairy milk taste but they and the likes of Nestle Munchies etc do now contain palm oil and I don't want to keep buying it and encourage that sort of cheapening of products.

We buy Aldi chocolate now for the same reason….Dairy milk is now naff!

as goes for the price thats greed from the company

id be honest and say i havent bought chocalate by the bar in a long time same with the mars bar

even ive swaped to the cheaper brands if i do buy them

The milk component is probably the one ingredient that's reduced in cost for manufacturers. I think it's the choco bit that's in short supply.

Agree with the Lidl and Aldi comments, there cheap bars taste better than Cadbury’s. The wife still indulges in Crème Eggs and they’ve really shrunk in size but eating one leaves me feeling sickly.

Lindt is still top notch along with Toblerone especially their caramel one, which technically isn’t chocolate.

70% for me.

Try going up a bit, Lidl chocolate goes up to 85% and gets less sweet as a result. 100% is an acquired taste, being quite bitter on first tasting. It does grow on you very quickly although you probably wouldn't want to eat half a bar. I tend to have a square each evening.

I tried some 100% Montezuma's once. While I never buy under 70% and very much like 70-90%, 100% was unpalatable for me. Like someone had stirred fag ash in with it.

Maybe that was a particularly harsh brand but I don't intend to repeat the experiment.

I quite like Sainsbury's own brand ones but stock seems to be sporadic.

These are good, the coop one is quite fruity and morish, the aldi one is good as its 5 little 25g bars to help limit consumption!

Wife and I have a square of Aldi 85% Moser Roth between us most evenings, that's enough for me. We picked some Bournville up the other day just to try in comparison and it's way too sweet.

I don't think the health benefits are lost or markedly reduced with 10-25% less chocolate percentage! But hey, ho, whatever works
