Clarke liner replacement

Morning all,

I’m attempting to replace the liner on my Clarke 151 this morning with curtain wire as advised here, however I have removed my old liner but it has this on the end where it goes into the torch.

Anyone advise how to remove it or replace it? What are they called? Or has anyone used a substitute?

That’s unusual, the ones I’ve seen were a push fit type of fitting, one with a press in lock ring to release. I’ll bet someone will be along in a bit that’s cobbled it before Looks like you might have to get a specific one. Machine Mart will have one. Maybe someone has fitted a replacement previously, I have one of the little fittings, but I can’t get it for you as I’m stuck housebound with a knackered back at the moment

EDIT A proper one is only £8.39 from MM, looks like that has a fitting the same as yours, they’ve changed the spec over the years possibly.

I bought a curtain wire to do my 155.
Stripped it down only to find, when I'd stripped it down, that it already had a metal liner

You’ve got nothing to lose, I’m sure with a bit of ingenuity the screw fitting could be grafted on

Stick the brass end in a vice and pull the liner out, you could torch it to burn the plastic coating off if it's got a good hold.

You'll likely find curtain wire has a slightly smaller OD than a genuine liner so you should easily insert it into the ferrule and can secure with adhesive/tape whatever, I wouldn't recrimp it unless you have a suitable tool as it'll likely just deform and still be a loose fit.
