yea used for lead burning and small brazing or silver soldering jobs ive and a few and sold them. look the price up there eye watering

I'm restoring them, and they are a piece of genius. From what I've learned, the big manufacturers can't copy them, and the new models are crap. I know they were made by BOC at their Murex plant, and production stopped.

They wasn't made at Waltham across, well they certainly wasn't towards the end of the 90s. An old guy used to make them in his shed for Murex/ESAB.

i saw one at autojumble virtualy new with hoses on it told me bruv and he bough it for 5 quid there well over a ton brand new

the original ones are far better quality than the sh.ite there peddling now

the only reason i got shot of mine is im left handed so the controll knobs are on the left hand side making it difficult to hold

Yes, I did read that.
But what make the original better than say a Victor, Airco, or Smith ?

I fully understand the new ones aren't the same.

What is the reason for all the attention to the original torches
versus what ever else is & was available ?

Different brands/styles, not copies.

How the torch fit's the hand ?
Easy to adjust with only one hand ?

But what make the original better than say a Victor, Airco, or Smith ?

Esab ruined Victor torches. Absolute junk now just like Harris.

its a bit like a mechanic using snapon tools. i have some along with brittool stuff sprayguns made by devillbiss trade and craftsmen only use the best gear, most of the older gear is far more superior in quality than the newer stuff thats getting churned out in china does that answer your question

Modern snap on is crap too, but snap on was always as much about the brand and lifestyle as the tools

all my spanners sockets and gear is over 50 years old as u say there modern equivelants arent as good
