Fine until theres EMP!I took out a fixed price tariff on gas and electricity two weeks ago. Two EVs here so should be good for a year (insert smug smiley here)

My pal has the petrol station down the road and he can be a bit behind the curve so I called him first thing, "Oh I was wondering why they were queuing up!" So I explained life to him and reminded him that it doesn't matter what he is selling it at the moment he will have to replace it, earliest he could order a tanker for was Friday morning, the one he had organised for tomorrow has been cancelled on him. He recons he will be out by 3 tomorrow afternoon. Looking at the queues as I drove past earlier he will be lucky to make lunchtime I recon.

There was a very sad incident of a mother and daughter who were decanting petrol from a jerrycan in the kitchen during the last shortage. What they failed to realise was the petrol vapour was obviously (well to me it is anyway) heavier than air and it made it's way to the pilot light of the gas fired AGA in the kitchen, I do believe they were both killed. I have two jerry cans in the store shed but I didn't bother filling them when I filled up, it's just another hazard as far as I am concerned and I am becoming very risk averse nowadays.

We just placed an order for kerosine for the oil-fired boiler... last time we filled up was mid-January at circa 60p/litre.
Mrs TF rang around this morning and most had doubled to over £1.20/litre - she managed to find one at £1.04/litre.
Eek.

I usually buy 40 litres ( 2 jerry cans) at a time for the quad, but they live under cover in an open doored pig sty. Got about 10 litres left, so will worry about it next week.

Went out to local Texaco garage to fill up my van, as I have a run to Wiltshire on Friday. Large queue ....... there is never a queue.
They have four double sided pumps, each with e5 and e10 petrol, plus a diesel nozzle. Some of the petrol nozzles tied off, and ALL except one diesel nozzle working. Guy in the kiosk said it has been nuts all day. Woman at the pump filling her Freelander said she had seen diesel at Sainsburys at £1.66 ! Big queue there too.
This is the problem using the most popular fuel !

The issue is the fuel sold today was bought before America attacked, so why is the price higher?

I was up there during the Iran Iraq war on a gas tanker. Was an interesting experience, paid well, with the various bonuses on top of a decent wage anyway.
Another thing with ships being held up, the charters will be paying demurrage too, which can be quite costly depending on the terms of the charter.
Prices go up as they know to replace whats sold today will cost more to replace!

I have a Texaco and Shell card with Radius, my app is showing 111.92 & VAT so 134.3 ppl this week for diesel
Does put a smile on my face when I fill up at a Motorway service station knowing I'm not paying the price showing on the pump

During the last fuel crisis in UK a few years back I had already done a deal on buying a 3L diesel s class merc. The whole thing kicked off that week, I asked the small time used car place to ensure there was fuel in the car as I had to drive several hundred miles to the docks. "Yes-sir"
Plane landed. Taxi to get the car. Diesel light on
"oh we forgot sir"
Drove it a few miles and realised the scale of the problem. The english locals were mad queing up for fuel at empty pumps. Cars broken down.
I decided nothing for it but get out of town. Headed up motorway and was running out 5 - 10 miles later. Took off an exit and found a rural filling station with more cars queued out. I got out, walked in and the filling station clerk directed me to go to the HGV high speed pump over to the side which should have diesel.
I pulled up and pumped. I didnt look at the pump just kept going a short while. Then realised it clicked off very quick. (High speed, duh!) At the same moment people had followed, got out and said to me "you just pumped £100 diesel!" And started saying between cars. At the moment I said to my GF, swap seats you drive this car out to roadside and wait, ill pay. I walked in, paid and quickly headed out before a lynchmob would start! Unintentional that I pumped £100 but they may not have seen it that way or understood I did have several hundred miles to cover that evening in a 27mpg car.
Interesting trip for sure due to the fuel crisis! Came back through ireland and it was nothing like what we encountered on that trip. No one panic buying.

I've heard there are a lot of panic buyers here this week.
Me, I'm not bothered. I have a half-full tank in the Pensioner's Car, and 40L of treated E10 in jerrycans for the genset.
I'll go up the shops tomorrow and if there are mad queues at the filling stations, I'll just leave it.
I expect things will settle down within a fortnight.
