Cheap hearing aids.

Anyone tried 'em? A lifetime of bikes, power tools and stupidity has left me with hearing damage. Very little in one ear and limited in the other.

I use a completely-in-canal (CiC) Siemens device in my working lug, £2k here in Portugal but found by me in Germany for a quarter of that on German ebay! It's pretty effective unless you forget it in the shower, which put paid to my first one. I live in fear of the demise of this one. No way can I afford the full price, and the German ebay fella has gone offline.

My facebook feed is inundated with ads for remarkably cheap ones, and I just wonder if anyone has tried them? They tend to be of the CiC variety which is great if you're pulling masks and ear defenders (bit late I hear you say...) off and on several times a day.

Do you have an audiologist who can make you a shell and program the aid? I have two pairs of phonak CIC that I no longer need after my stapedotomies. Few years old now but were state of the art at the time, newer pair even did bluetooth to your phone!

When you say 'make a shell' I'm guessing that means a custom made silicone thingy? New to me, the Siemens has a solid plastic shell and removable silicone cups.
Anyway, a fantastic offer, I'd be happy to pay whatever you think is reasonable. I'll be in the Uk visiting an old pal who lives in North Wales in May. I usually fly in once a year via Liverpool or Manchester.There's an audiologist near him in Llanrwst I could speak to.
