Has anyone had a link to click to read facebook messenger.

Not sure if its a scam.

Where from?

I get those all the time from some people I know, just sharing posts. I'm not sure why sometimes it shows a preview of the post and sometimes it just shows that preview screen, maybe down to a poor signal stopping it downloading the preview.

A guy I worked with for 32 years but only recently seen he was on facebook. So not exchanged many messages.

I clicked it. Lol was a link to WMFS past and present. So safe enough

FB changed the privacy settings so the content of ..unsolicited msgs are not automatically shown ....a msg from someone you have no history with comes up with the prompt to either accept or reject the message ...another 'good idea'?

Taking it to our lad after work (just happens to be a software developer) to investigate.
I know nothing.

100% scam, but not sure how you can get out of it. Do not call that number.

Edit: From reading that article it looks like it's just a web browser screen made to look like an error screen, nothing harmful.

Its good to see my thread helping others.
I have had about 20 messages from my son and all have been fine.
Who was the message from?
These type of panic messages are widespread. If it was me i would be running malwarebytes but windows defender manual scan might s8ffice to remove it.

However i would not be using that link to try accessing it. I have no idea of what will happen but its not going to be good.

I get a lot of similar “suggestions” and ignore them.

Best advice I got (Facebook, banking, etc) was •never¥ click on a suspicious link.

Best go direct to your normal Facebook / banking screen - and look for flashing “Important message” bits.

restarting the computer will most likely solve it. That's a typical popup scam run by scammers in India.

Our lad sorted it out - it was a screen-maxed webpage so F11 then delete got rid of it, with a restart to confirm it had not changed anything.
Seems to have been replying on people ringing their hotline, ready to get scammed

Exactly how they work. The pop-ups are harmless. The scam can vary from a once off payment for no reason to many years of complex scamming.
