sat nav Help needed , update gone wrong...

Hi . as most know I am not hot on tech , but managed to get on gamin site and update my sat nav,a nuvi, ,actually felt quite chuffed i worked through and got it sorted, it was working before but on accasion would try and tell me to turn left into a field for no reason, so updated , now it seems I must be set for indoor use or some thing as will not aquire satalites (?) and if i type in my own postcode screen shows I am sat at an address 15 miles away. SO thats easy I thought got on garmin express site but after trying for ages cannot seem to get in contact with anyone . its probably a simple fix, gone through everything on the screen but can t find anything to change the home address or change setting to find satalite ? all and any advice appreciated , yes yes yes I could should be using google maps on my phone but lets not go there eh...

hmmm, well i found restore to factory settings , now I am based in central london.

so after couple hours managed to find email contact info on garmin site and sent details about update lashing it up , await confusing reply , probably done on purpose so you buy later model...not that I am pessamistic at all about modern life and salesmanshit.

so googled the fault , under navigation it had reset to indoor use , unticked that and presto ...I am home , thats what I love about tech wasting several hours for something like that . sheesh.

He went there, not me!!

But it's good advice. Google Maps is updated regularly and picks up congestion within minutes of it starting. It re-routes around congestion if possible.

I did try google maps but need a phone holder , doesnt really work chucked on passenger seat listening only , anyways I got it sorted so decided now I have blue tooth on phone to try and get connected , took two attempts , only found the phone when i turned phone blue tooth off then on again ..found instantly , brother called me and must admid really really clear hands free , so wasted most of the day but did get it sorted , and again thanks for all advice , i do have google maps to fall back on, perhaps I could use a note pad on holder for in car ? anyways everythings working for the next few moments

Personally I like my Nuvi. The settings can be a pita to find and I haven't yet been able to get it just to show petrol stations, but prefer it for going places where there is likely no phone signal.
