I've been presented with a couple of galvanised door frames and new skins to assemble and paint. Q: there are clearly rivet holes in the frame and some round the handle aperture. Now. Are these blind or real or a mixture please?

I think series 1s used solid domed rivets and a rivet snap ? Probably different lengths too. Pop rivets would be non original...

I cut my mechanics teeth on them and Austin champs & was going to say domed solid snap rivets , but as it was 60 years ago I can't be 100% sure

The listing shows both being used in image 38. Not sure if the blind rivets are repair though

edit. Looking at other images blind rivets are used on the tail gate and other sections of the body

See, I can get access to the back of the handle but not the top of the lower door. Wondering if there is a capping trim there.

Are the frames rectangular?
I presume so as they are galvanised, I'll take some pics of my '57 doors tonight.

That would be excellent, thankyou. Yes they are rectangular. I'm assuming solid rivets round the door handle and blind at the top rail. Is there a capping there where it meets upper frame?

Ignore the pop rivets, I was 22 and not worried about originality (still not). As others have said they should be solid dome rivets.

Many years ago a friend was restoring his Austin Healey 3000 and turning it into a replica of one of the factory rally cars.

With the triple webber, the factory cars had a removable panel around the aperture for the bonnet that used rivets to hold a flange, he replicated this by using pop rivets and then a little filler to make them look like proper rivets
