I nearly bought an Alfa Alfetta 2.0l 4 door saloon it was an amazing car in its day DOHC, twin 40 carbs ,independent suspension all round, rear mounted gearbox and discs all round. This so ahead of ford's and vauxhalls at the time 1980s. It was at kings lynn car auctions I bid up to my maximum budget of £700 and it sold for £760.

My Alfa 75 never let me down and didn't rust either. Amazing drift car. Awesome engine. Last of the RWD Alfas. I had a 156 and 159 on lease. Great fun for a FWD car and only 2.2 turns lock to lock. Awesome.

Yea, Id agree, the dealer my Mitsibushi was supplied by new is now KGM and Isuzu, they are very accommodating with my loan cars after the loose tow bar incident a week after I bought it. The Musso is a decent pick up, prefer it to the Isuzu. Not sure I could buy one though.
My Mrs thinks the miles we do, we should go down to 1 motor, not a pick up and a rav 4. But what will she be happy parking in Tesco, and tow 3 ton! Takes you back to a Landrover…except it needs to be low enough to get her mother in, and be automatic…

Now worse than anything else, and from the sound of some of the troubles on here, better than most!
Up to 209,000 on my Lancia now - I did have to swap the aftermarket tubular exhaust manifold back to the original cast iron one the other weekend, and have it tracked properly after another place didn't - but other than that . . . which no doubt means on tomorrows commute . . .

Hated changing the rear pads or the clutch though. Or the rubber doughnuts.

Yes spot on. My girlfriend asked me one day why the steering wheel was turned to the left going around roundabouts. In what way did you think that the Musso was better than the Isuzu? Out of all of the pick ups, I was drifting towards the Isuzu, but TBH I haven't considered the Musso.

I had a Sud for a couple of years and loved the thing but I spent as much time welding it as I did driving it and the electrics were something else. The only car I've had with auto flash headlights.

The alternative of doing work on a Ranger engine with the body on, is much frustration and skinned knuckles.
Loads of awkward bolts and inaccessible details for no good reason I can think of.
If for example you need to change the position of the crank sensor you have to remove the gearbox to get at the (adjustable) bracket bolts.
I had the head of my son in laws after he cooked it because the ERG cooler leaked and he drove on.
The head being off allowed me to get the sump off to change the oil pump and chain.
I made a support beam and raised it a few inches to allow it to clear the front diff, steering rack and driveshaft.
You wouldn't mind but the oil pumps are a vane type with the know problem of not self priming after an oil change.
They don't wear the tips excessively, but the vanes have a habit of folding in half resulting, 99 times in a 100, in a destroying engine.
I replaced it with a gear type.
It's not a direct fit, the oil pick up and sump baffle needed modified.
Never again!

They are both at the cheap end, we had a 2.5, 15 plate Isuzu which I didn't mind, and towed well, but built quality was cheap and tinny. Before I bought the Mitsibushi, I tried the newer 1.9 Isuzu, both manual and an auto, both just seemed to be geared and working the engine harder than it needed to, to make up for lack of power, and more tinny than before. The KGM Musso just drove better, bit more oomph, 2.2 ltr engine, and cheaper. Also nicer inside. They do two bed lengths, the shorter is a tad short, but gives a more room in back. The longer one will be a nightmare to park in Tesco. 5 year warranty too. If you look at pick up prices, they are decent value for money, go try one.

i believe they named it quadrasteer, it was only available for a few years (early 2000s). massive towing capacity of almost 5 tons (where legally permitted )

Interesting and food for thought. I've always gone Toyota but the latest Hilux is overpriced and IMHO looks and feels dated for the money, plus I've been hearing about the chassis rust issues. I've been looking at the 2025> Isuzu DMax, which seems decent and much improved on the earlier Isuzu pick ups.
