Railway station parking

Hi guys,
Parked at Stevenage Railway station on Saturday,

went in to find that there were no trains due to engineering works,

Had to pay £7 to park

and was only there 8 minutes..

Is there away to get a refund..?

Was there a sign that you missed or no sign before you entered? There is also something about a 5 or 10 minuite concideration time, somewhere, how did you pay, machine or on the phone?

did you photograph your car after leaving the parking area if not its hard to argue the parking side of it as you could use ticket time vs leaving time photo

you might have gotten a reduced payment but if no evidence its hard to prove

for no trains reference the term should have checked online for trains at the station will get used or a phonecall to verify train arrival times at the station

according to mrs google several different parking places are available, best start by finding who operates the one you utilised and then you can drive yourself insane with all the regulations and loopholes they have in place to keep your money.

Yea thought there is time to park in case it's busy..

Railway parking bylaws are different to all other parking regs, you need to check the bylaws that applies to that carpark.
To be honest I would forget it and move on unless you like hassle.

You'll probably find in their terms and conditions they're only charging you to park and there's no guarantee of rail service included in that, so tough totty.

There is still the question of not receiving the service expected for the payment. Absolutely claim a refund, it is perfectly reasonable.

the issue is proving it unless its time stamped when they entered and when they left

ticket machines dont give that option only in hrs so first hr must be paid to get out of the gate

ticket at gate and ticket stamped at out gate gives both times in the case of finding all spaces full you can prove this as you drove around and couldnt find parking so left

ticket at gate and pay at machine you still have to pay 1hr to get out even if you didnt find a parking spot

alot of cons in the parking industry

there quick to charge you extra when your late by using the reg at entrance try getting the enter reg time and also the leaving reg time but i bet you wont get them

As already suggested, I would think the payment would be to park in a suitable space in the car park - which would seem to have been more than adequately fulfilled for the payment submitted - in that the car was left in the car park, and it was still there when they returned (the car park that is, not necessarily the car) - they just chose to come back before the expiration of the paid time period.

Might not even be a railway company car park, just a council one that happens to be next to the station?

I guess there's no requirement to actually get on a train while using the car park - could park there and wander off for a look at the town, the railway tracks, passing train thingies etc.

Now if you paid for the train journey . . . and then were unable to travel on a train as they failed to provide one . . .

But you never know, there might be someone in the office having a really, really good day and feeling they need to spread the joy.

Just to be annoying - the train station car parks local to me, including the one with brand new two storey parking to alleviate the lack of spaces by 9am, are free. (Although the upper storey of the new facility seems to only be accessible by short cars, judging by the facebook comments on batter cars and scrape marks on the curving access ramp).
