Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and currently find myself in the research for a 350 A mobile/compact MIG welder. I hope it is ok to post here even when I am based in Germany. I find this forum to be quite resourceful in terms of pertinent opinions.
Longs story short, I have on my short list two devices which I cannot test, as the dealers in my region do not have them on stock/premise.
The first option is a Merkle HighPulse Touch 350k. Price around 8000 Euro with cooling unit and torch. All processes are included. This is just an updated version of the Merkle HighPulse series, which they added a touchscreen to it.
As a second option, there is the LORCH MicorMig Mobile 350. This is just a typical device of the MicorMig series which LORCH has integrated in a more compact case. The price of the device, with the cooling unit and an NFC card to unlock all the processes such as Pulse and MicorTwin, SpeedArc etc is at approximately 7800 Euro.
I had the chance to see the LORCH MicorMig 350 Mobile during the Schweißen & Schneiden exhibition fair in September last year in Essen, Germany and spoke with a representative from LORCH about it. They had a welding station overthere but this devide was not connected in the area they were doing the welding. However, there were plenty of welded samples from another decompact version of MicorMig. I regret now for not asking them to use whatever setup they had with the decompact MicorMig and see how it feels welding with it.
With Merkle, I tried to book a test but unfortunately the closest Merkle subsidiary said they do not have the device on premise but they responded with an offer. Making me however unterstand that a possible test will be only possible if I confirm my interest for the device. The LORCH dealer which is located in the same city I reside, also does not have the MicorMig 350 Mobile on the premise but can order it if I decide to buy it.
Since probably Merkle is more exotic in the UK, and not that known I can say although they devices were long time old-school and their design seems to be a little stuck in time, the HighPulse series is well regarded in Germany. Most say their pulse process for steel and the results it delivers is above Fronius. On the other side LORCH is already well known in UK, so what do you think of one of these two devices? Does someone has experience with a MicorMig welding steel around 6-15mm?
