Looks like the stone stands still and it rotates the earth underneath it!!I have a treadle stone like that. Puts a wicked edge on axes and the like. That looks like the mother of all speed reduction boxes on yours ....Love it!!
No sprag clutch here,it turns about 60 rpm,the gear box is from a vintage clothes ringer/washer that ran on a 2 stroke gas motor way back when..Has it got a sprag clutch on the stone shaft or in the gearbox?
I can't imagine the worm gear will appreciate the inertia of the wheel trying to backdrive the system when you stop the motor if not!

Does it have a water troth the stone sits in?Threw this together over the past week,a bunch of old parts scattered all over my shop now it’s all in one place..ultimate knife sharpener![]()
Yes it does..kept it old school and used 1/3rd of a 14 inch tire.Does it have a water troth the stone sits in?
