Not a single one... He reckons his customer base will die of old age - I kid you not...!

I got a bit of Snap on stuff - but not loads - never been into it - full sets of shiney stuff.
Look in my tool boxes - there is everything from Draper/Sealey to Mac and Snap On - and loads of German/French stuff in between.

I don't care either...
At one time I would spend hours on the internet - looking at car repair videos - researching stuff.
Now I look at "cooking over open fire" videos - I got a real thing about this at the moment. Looks a my sort of hobby for retirement - and I gotta eat anyway...

Look in my tool boxes - there is everything from Draper/Sealey to Mac and Snap On - and loads of German/French stuff in between.
I've got a big set of SnapOn 1/2" deep impact sockets, which I paid £80 for. Last time a similar set was on offer, it was over £200.
I was looking for another set of Torx bits last year, but they were £180.
I bought a set of Wera instead.

had a mate round today to do a bit of joinery, I was taking the p*ss when I saw he had Aldi chisels,
he showed me his "best set" at 15 times the price,
says its not so bad losing a £15 set on sites, and he bins them and replaces them every year or so anyway,

Not so much where I work now, but it was telling that I had a lot of tools that were older than the filter-spinners and service & maintenance tech's I worked with.
most of the 'good' stuff is Britool or Facom, before it was made in the far east, I have about eight items of Snap-On, all 'under duress' purchases (i.e. I couldn't get better for less any quicker). I have a lot of test gear - all up to date and no ancient AVO meters, but selling or gifting it when I retire is unlikely as there's few interested or have the mental agility to learn how to use it to their advantage. There's nothing particularly special, just requires a bit of lateral thinking to use it for non-standard diagnosis.

I have a fair bit of Snap-on, but hardly buy any now. Their prices are just ridiculous these days. At work i mostly use cheap/cheaper stuff, the cheap brands are getting so good. Sockets are Sealey/Draper, spanners are BGS, screwdrivers are a mix of Wera and Irazola. Various bits of US Pro and random Amazon brands. It all does the job just fine.

It's not worth having all my stuff at work, when i build my own workshop i'll move it all there with the metalworking machines and welders. It's not worth splitting up my stuff while working for someone else.
I'm very fond of GearWrench ratchets. I have two ¼" and a ½" and they're very good.

Me too, My home workshop is pretty secure, the boatshed down the club simply isnt, you could break in with a stanley knife through the cover. Not worth it though as i keep a few old beater tools in there that i would not miss if they got nicked. All my good tools come home with me. Funnily enough it did get broken into last summer, someone got in by pulling a plywood panel off the back wall, but absolutely nothing was stolen. But 100 yards away just outside the club entrance was a car crashed off the road onto the marsh. I heard that it was nicked & crashed & i think they broke into the shed to hide from the police helicopter.Work tools. Home tools.
I can see where your priorities lie.

im glad to hear courses are now being enforced as it didn't stop the ford technician at ford Bristol motors Birmingham removing the weather seal around the door of my transit with side cutters
looked like that paint had been attacked with a macheteeven the manager "seemed" suprised when i showed the handiwork of their warrenty work
they did however repaint the door shut before installing the new seal

not that there is any thing wrong with halfords stuff of late i have a mix of snapon, mac and halfords even the odd brittool
my main socket set that ive had since 2005 is ampro, the ratchets gave up a few years back and got replaced by fine tooth snap-on ratchet's (that are better if im being honest) but snap-on sockets are more like snap-off

Thing is, you need those letters after your name if you want to put any legal gravity to your report.
I have been hearing this since the 1980's and it just isn't true. The skills shortage is here now, it has been a slow insidious creep for the last thirty/forty years and we will just wake up one morning to find useless in charge. Sound familiar?
