Don't ask me - I thought Shell Talpa was marine diesel oil....?

I only use a Diesel engine oil.....have done for the past 10-twenty years with no problems.....
To replace my big Broom-Wade piston compressor would be over £8,000....so plenty to worry about..In various locations I have 5 comp running with the same oil...
as an add on.....
all my metal lathes and milling machine gearboxes get the Red automatic gear box oil from the automotive scene...

I always use vs100 hydraulic oil in compressors and vac pumps. That's equivalent to sae30 as yours needs as sae20 I would use vs68 hydraulic oil.

J'utilise exclusivement de l'huile moteur diesel... et ce, depuis 10 à 20 ans sans aucun problème...
Remplacer mon gros compresseur à piston Broom-Wade coûterait plus de 8 000 £… de quoi s’inquiéter ! J’ai cinq compresseurs fonctionnant avec la même huile, répartis sur différents sites.
en option...
Toutes mes boîtes de vitesses pour tours à métaux et fraiseuses reçoivent l'huile rouge pour boîtes de vitesses automatiques provenant du secteur automobile...

Yes that looks a 1-1 pulley ratio those old compressors won't like 3000rpm somewhere around 600rpm is their speed.

should only be running at about 1000 rpm tops

If you want to use that motor, you need a pulley 1/3rd of the diameter of the one on the pump.

Might have done the pump in though, running it at that speed
