God why is painting so hard

story goes
been buildin a car for 2 years now, paid a so called paint shop £1200 to paint it, the guy did a runner so i got the car back.
i had no money left to paint it so ive been learning my self, nearly got all the car painted .
i had some runs down one side after reading about thinning my clear down, so i sanded it all back down and got told it would be ok to shoot paint over the top and clear agen.
well ive shot the first coat of colour over the top and were id sanded through to the primer its reactied, so now ive got to run it down agen and start agen GGGGGRRRRRRRR

let it sit a bit after youve sanded it , then dust very light coats over that area until its covered , might help to use a hot air gun too

basicly need to get the basecoat on fairly dry so the thinners doesnt pick up the edge

unless you'd rubbed through the basecoat, there really is no need to re-basecoat it, you can just shoot the clear again.
Once you break through the colour (basecoat) you'll have endless problems.

I think i'd be tempted to use some sort of isolator on the broken through bits and the re-colour it, then clear.

But if it's reacted badly, then you'd be best da'ing it all down and starting again.

What paint system did you use?

omni cron, see every thing i read said it would be ok if id broken through to the base , it looked like the base i put on top has gone under the base and clear and clifted it, what can i buy isolate it ?

Not really used omnicron before, you might find one of the other guys on here might have the answer.

You may find a good 2-pack primer would hold it back, then start again with your basecoat, obviously not laying it on heavy, then clear.

I'm assuming it's 2-pack pain this omnicrom stuff???

And apologies in my last post, I meant to say breaking through the clear, the basecoat will lift the clear if it's gone through.

I had the same problem on a car a while ago, where i'd painted the door shuts and the over spray wen onto the outer panels, when I came to paint the outer, the basecoat lifted the oversprayed areas, I got round it by using 2-pack primer, then going from there, which worked just fine.

just dust the base coat on ...no need for extra products

thanks, if i cant get it sorted i'll prime it all and start agen, 1k primer ,1k base, then 2k clear.

were can i get some isolater from ?

if you have reaction problems just ask your paint supplier for bar coat which is an isolater flat down the area and spray on neat do not thin down leave an hour and re prime then flat your primer as normal but dont rub through then away you go.
if you get runs in the clear you can carefully flat thenm out use 1000 gritt of higher and a small block dont do it freehand then just polish back to a shine with g3

Why are you thinning down your clear ???

the runs were realy bad lol

i was told by the paint shop to thinn my clear down, 2 to 1 and 10% thinners but ive read that some people dont use thinners in there clear or primer eather, its hard learning from the net, people do things diffrent so you never know what to do for the best.
