My parents collected cardboard boxes, they lived in Crag foot for 30 odd years & every single box from every purchase & delivery ever got flatpacked into their cellar in case it came in handy. Took me weeks to empty the cardboard mine & burn it all!
My wife & her sister are at the last throes of clearing her mums house, The stuff they wanted to keep or find homes for was bloody ridiculous I keep saying, "Nobody wants this old crap, Dump it!". Arrgh!

Yes, me. It's a good idea, one I hope to put into practice once last offspring moves out in the coming weeks. The thought of the kids having to sort through all our junk makes me anxious and I know it needs to be done now, whilst we're well enough to do it. We'd also like to downsize at some point so it will have to be done eventually.

Ref the depression...

It was just getting light this morning and I moved my bean frame off the veg patch. Pulled all the weeds that went straight in the compost bin. Dug over maybe a third.

Don't know if it was physiological but I've felt quite chipper all day. Had the wheels off the lad's Jazz checking his brakes and put the spare steelie on as one the alloy tyres is a bit worn. Swapped a wheel over on SWMBO's pug as had an advisory on the MOT. Ordered hers a wishbone too.

Been sifting through a big mixed soil/rubble pile that needs to be moved and getting the flints out. Been washing those in my old battered mixer and have nearly finished a little soakaway along a path.

They do say gardening helps with MH etc. Something to do with it kicking up beneficial microbes in the air.

Its most likely go to do with whats given off when you exercise . Allegedly.

I felt great after dragging 30 metres of external CAT6 through pipes. And it was bitterly cold a couple of weeks back but I stayed out and felt great.

Bit strange this week I got nothing done....but I got a hell of a lot done. Hard to explain but things like my web site that was broken I ended up fixing it (so far) lol with the assistance of Ai.

I got the plates from Oseq deleivered and fixed the issue I had with my high flow hot end etc. Just lots of things like that. Today a hydraulic ram came early and as I was baby sitting because my son was on a remote CPC course I had any excuse to sort the little things I could not justify wasting time on.. But the ram fixed the heat press I need to get sold as its very heavy and in the way of decluttering. I can no longer lift it and my mortality is very into focus so I have the desire and motive to get rid of stuff I can never use again etc.

By contrast I was proper f****d of when I was running Cat-6 through 20 odd m of 20mm underground duct and got a 3D printed draw string shuttle stuck! You've just reminded me I've to revisit that

Did at least manage to get two Cat-6 through the other 20mm, 20m duct from house to garage. One Cat-6 is in use for the EV charger internet connection and CT clamp.

Digging you see rapid results, moving stuff about as you say getting no where fast isntgood medecine. Get a skip and go for it. The rapid results will lift your mood instantly.

TBH I have lost my way since Christmas, not getting anything done at all. I also find looking at stuff in the shed/garage/workshop is depressing. No room to move, and no room to do anything.
I know I should be getting rid of stuff, but just find myself looking at it and doing nothing. Then thinking its time for more tea and biscuits and wasting even more time on the internet reading about pointless stuff.

Just squeezed up into rat **** city aka the garage trusses and recovered 7 demijohns (6 clear, 1 brown). Didn't even know they were there until the other week when I started "tidying". Could see them but only tonight had the need / mustered the courage to go and retrieve them.

I've dragged two out and am sterilising them. That'll at least let me rack a couple of gallons of pear wine that's been sat there.

It can seem too overwhelming sometimes. Too much stuff that you don't even know where to start. So start with one shelf. If that's too much, do half a shelf. Or one box. Or just pick 5 items for the dustbin. However small, it's progress. If you binned 5 items a day for a month you'd notice the difference.
