Diamond wheels?

Has anyone found a 19-20mm wide diamond wheel for a 6" bench grinder? I have searched the usual places and can only find 1" wide, my draper 6" wheels are 19mm. im tired of green dust everywhere from sharpening tungstens.

It might be possible to reduce the width of a standard one.

Those are nice, but im not willing to spend 2-3 times the cost of my grinder for a wheel lol

Holes can be embiggened.

Flanges can be made to stiffen them up (see as an example https://www.klingspor.co.uk/products/kronenflex-cutting-off-wheels/fl-76).

Your Amazon example would appear to have a smaller hole (1/2") than a diamond disc (22mm). A continuous rim (tile cutting) disk is the type you need.

The Amazon one cannot seem to make its mind up whether it is diamond or CBN. Diamond (a form of carbon) is not good to use on carbon steel cutting tools, hence all the woodworking ones are CBN.

With a lathe and a good dust cloth, that one could be narrowed (cut from inside out).

im confused, the amazon one was just an example, this if for a bench grinder with 1/2" arbor, not an angle grinder. I have seen from this sub that diamond grit is cheaper and just as good as cbn for sharpening tungstens

Personally I still use an aluminium oxide wheel to grind my tungstens but it wears the wheel.

I use one of these. You can use the corner to cut the tungsten and the flat to grind a point. I think the one I have fitted now is about 150 grit but I've used up to 600 grit for the same job. It does require a simply made adapter for the spindle.

aww page not found. i searched though.

lets pretend not everyone on this forum has a lathe or a pillar drill. can it really be that hard to find a 150mm x 20mm diamond wheel with a 12.7mm bore for a bench grinder? im pretty sure the 25mm ones wont fit and i specifically bought the damn grinder for this purpose....its all it does.

A person in that situation would use an online 3D modelling program (or OpenSCAD) to design a suitable bore reducer, send off to an online 3D printing service and await the postman.

A wooden one, lightly glued to a 1/2" wood dowel could be sanded to diameter in a cordless drill and then the core dowel removed.

Lack of tools is less of a limitation than lack of imagination.
