Was that discussion about @jimbo84 's issue or because it's happened to others? If the latter, then that's a big issue and surely there's no excuse for Fords not to recallThere was a discussion on "official" fb group about this. It was tackwelded on then went through a line for robot welding but the robot broke so not welded and this got missed at qc.

I saw a Police Ford Ranger the other day with the stupid receiver style tow hitch. To get the towball down low they had a 10mm steel plate sticking down about A4 sized. Just a flat plate! No bends in it nothing. Just imagine the turning forces - box section at the top - towball right at the bottom. No doubt it was "approved" or the Police wouldn't use it. And there is the difference. If one of us lot on here built something ourselves and there was an accident they would throw the book at us. But if it has the correct paperwork that is all they care about these daysnot a ford towbar iirc, its dealer fit aftermarket.

I remember in the 90s near Bournemouth...I was stuck in traffic. Other side of the road a boat on a trailer got free....boat and trailer hit the car in front of me. Quite a bit of chaos!if it let go in to traffic in opposite direction would be like a battering ram
I know Coastal Rides - one of our customers - they used to convert big American V8s into boat engines etc. Probably still do.It’s not my Facebook post or pictures, I came across it on there and thought it was worth a mention on here being welding, van and towing related.
