Looking at a new motor for compressor but seller states it runs anticlockwise.is this correct,if not can direction of motor be changed?

Shouldn't be a problem to do, something like this. Basically swap the brass strips around in the terminal box:

Check before you buy. Very few motors sold nowadays are not direction-reversible.

Hi folks,got a new motor now,but where does live wire go to?

The live should be connected to one terminal on one of the brass strips and the neutral should be connected to the other brass strip. It doesn't make any difference which way round, but if this motor has a overload/trip included then wiring will be slightly different but I cant see enough of the box to confirm as there are existing cables connected in the required positions
