jacks dont repair very well.
you might be right if you're refering to the cheapo jacks you buy now, but I have an epco the same as brightsparks & like him I re-furbished it years ago, [real quality jacks ] & I've been using it regularly since & it's ''never let me down'' so to speak.

i made 2 diffrent size jack extensions just remove them and put the plate direct on to jack . there great on level ground as the jack is sturdy but i wouldnt recomend them if jack is flimsy or on uneven ground . with extension on it will lift to 3ft
a jack is for lifting and not to be relied upon for working under cars un suported without axle stands ect
