Popped the unit back in the van last night, thinking this sounds like more hassle than it's worth, & it worked fine. Not be that way for long though, I'll bet. That thing has had a life of its own for a good while now.
I've bought a small bluetooth speaker to carry in the van as a backup. Reviews said it has a decent sound, which it appears to have, so hopefully should be a reasonable backup.
