It was tonight. Loldont do it to save a punter money. i get paid for an hour even if im there ten minutes and quite often you need the power on to test the wiring to see where the fault is . no diffrent to doing live cable jointing![]()

I did not need either to be honest. I was more annoyed how stupid i was.During a career break I trained as a smart meter installer. I did approximately 2000 installs
Never blew a main fuse but gave emotional and physical support to a few who did, usually a Henley block issue
They make quite the pop I am told...
It was well after the consumer unit. It was a single socket internal with a T to an outside waterproof socket.OK, I'm nosey enough to ask. Why were you doing this?
It sounds like whatever you were working on was after the consumer unit, so I cant see any reason to be working on something that's live, or am I missing something?
Those look quite useful. Just to clarify it was me slipping with pliers connecting live to earth momentarily not stick both neutral and live into one wago.Brown trousers moment then, and you ruined the new pair of pliers
You can get 3 line "wagos" now - link
I dont know. I was not working in the meyer box. They make quite the pop I am told...
What i did i am surprised the 30 amp trip actually tripped BUT also the 60 amp fuse blew. I would have expected the trip to be enough to protect the main fuse.
But it was only on the 30 amp circut. It was at the socket where i was working.Guess you must have had 30amps+ load across other circuts?
Nothing trips/blows instantly, and trip/blow times depends on overload and the type of rating, so depending on the type, a higher rated upstream fuse can blow before the downstream circuit breaker trips, or even trip/blow at the same time due to the delays involved.Guess you must have had 30amps+ load across other circuts?

Circuit breaker.30A?
Is this a re-wireable fuse or circuit breaker?
Seeing a big green blob before your eyes for a while too, no doubt...Rather a very stupid old bloke. I purchased a brand new pair of VDE long nose pliers so i could put a live and a Neutral into wagos. (2 wagos i was not that stupid)
I unscrewed the live with a VDE screwdriver and using the long nose pliers i had the wago in another pair of pliers ready to put the live into it.
BUT and its why I have never worked on a live socket before i accidently touched the earth and the insulation on the live must have been compromised. It tripped the 30amp trip BUT it also took out the main fuse..
