Winter fettling, keeping boredom at bay.

Spent half an hour welding a crack in my son’s Landy door frame, I’m glad it went well & didn’t take long, it was absolutely freezing cold. It’s too tall to go in my garage. He ought to learn to weld, I could of stayed in the warm then.

Sunday is our Christmas open shoot I'll be out all day as a few of us are going for a few beers after .

Well I opened the door albeit later this afternoon ,

and promptly closed it again . I then went to Lidl for some cheap rib eye for tea

so then I actually did some thing I swapped over the battery cover catch from my broken lumix to the S/H one I bought

not as much of a pain as I thought it would be even with my bad peepers , a fully functioning lumix again for £15
And my Lidl's had four .... yes four plasma cutters in

Been a bit under the weather of late with ‘what’s going around’ so not been as productive as I’d like. Yesterday was a bit of a write off - like many of us I had grand ambitions of clearing/sorting out the garage - but that didn’t happen. Hope to hit it hard tomorrow and perhaps head into work for a couple of days early next week to prep for Jan.

Had an enjoyable day at the football today and incidentally picked up a pair of shrinker/ stretchers in MachineMarts clearance area on the way to the game. More stuff to put in the garage!

I keep telling myself the same thing, then when I decided tomorrow is the day I sort it out my father gives me something broken that needs fixing so I do that instead...case in point, I planned on sorting shed out tomorrow...this evening my father decimated the shaft housing on his thicknesser planer...so I'm on cast ally repair duties tomorrow now

Got to change the rigid brake pipes on the Unimog. Its sitting on mud and the cold wind we have had over the past few days has dried it up pretty well.

Pipes are 6mm and a real pain to bend, and some of it is quite convoluted. Been meaning to do it for months, but thought today is the day to at least start.

So spent most of the day on Ancestry.com. Its a godsend for nosey people

I used Ancestry because you can pay monthly. They allow you to suspend the membership, but they keep all your info in limbo, so you can drop out for a while, then rejoin.
Findmypast didn't do that last time I looked.

my wife is facinated with Ancestry.com and always on it...she has just sent back the top of the range DNA kit from them...its told me i am Irish/Welsh with a big dollop of Viking thrown in the mix, explains my liking for upsetting people and kicking doors in.

On a positive note the Christmas tree lights went pop this morning when wifey turned them on, maybe take the tree down early this year.

my wife is facinated with Ancestry.com and always on it...she has just sent back the top of the range DNA kit from them...its told me i am Irish/Welsh with a big dollop of Viking thrown in the mix, explains my liking for upsetting people and kicking doors in.

Well, good forecast for next few day at least, sick of sitting around drinking and eating so started on multiple unfinished projects on the Golf.

Power steering rack going back in with Volvo electro-hydraulic pump and controller, 02a cable change geabox, clutch and gearbox going in as well.

Will see how soon the motivation wears off lol.

At least it's on stands now and pointing in right direction..

Circa 1990 I was due a new company car (had to be VW or Audi) so I put in a request for a Golf GTi 16v, boss refused it so I went to the MD who was a proper car nut, ‘yes no problem’, cracking car until it got stolen.

What I should have done was order the petrol post knocker thingy that I had in my basket for 2 weeks before xmas
So its going to be the manual knocker and the shoulder of stiffness for the next week now

Our previous dog molted all the time so his hair constituted most of the vacuum tank every time it was emptied, our new one doesn't molt, but will need clipping every couple of months, luckily one of Mrs Robo's neices runs a dog grooming business.
