Dash cam for van

Morning everyone. Any of you guys run a front and rear dash cam in a panel van. My last van (transit courier) was ritten off due to rear smash resulting in 10 grands worth of damage. Compay i work for got me a brand new 2025 transit courier. I would like to fit front and rear dash cams but i dont have a rear window just panel doors. I looked at the nextbase 622 cam. Any of you chaps run both cams in a panel van and what cam. Price isnt a problem

I’ve had Blackvue in all our vehicles for many years now, just selecting the most recent model each time. They have an externally mounted rear camera option.

Not the cheapest, but they’re “set and forget” with the footage decent quality on the few times I’ve needed it. SD cards tend to last 2 or 3 years or more, and there’s a clear audio warning if the cards are worn out.

I purchased a Blackvue recently, their implementation of GPS is a bit flaky, it can take up to 20 minutes to get a GPS lock - which is how I found the above website. They used to be leaders in image quality, IMO they're slightly above average now. I had Thinkware for many years (also 'gone off the boil' a bit), wish I'd have found that site before I had the GPS problem - if you want a Blackvue Elite 9 (standard rear camera) I have one for sale...

Not fitted it yet, bought this one because its also got the google maps on it so doubles up as a satnav.

What about the cameras that replace a number plate bulb holder? Still has a smaller bulb

No drilling and no need for a rear window, just have to make sure the camera is compatible

Personally, I'd want to keep my dash cam behind an area of windscreen swept by the wipers! Admittedly vans won't have that at the rear...

vans need high cameras at the rear as the low ones catch all of the dirt on them

front is best suited where best

for rear look at your lights for drilling and fitting a camera whilst there not cheap to replace they are a better alternative than drilling into the metal of the van
