Retirement - I too enjoy my missus's company even after all these years....

But - not sure if I could put up with it 24/7...

We have separate workshops and just meet up for lunch and dinner, works for us!

Everything is quiet has been for a month or so, think its a combination of shortage of money and shortage of optimism caused by recent political events on finance.
Speaking to a woman with a cleaning business today, holiday lets, houses and a few small business, she reckons shes 50% down for December compared to last year.
Im quite liking the quiet, though the income isnt so good so Im only retired working 7 half days a week.

Says the part timer. We, theoretically, have Christmas & Boxing day off. Doesn't mean we won't end up working those days though.

Numbers wise November was awful in my little garage - it is thou starting to pick up a bit...

Brand new building and very full of rich Chinese students all now looking for a home
I did a 15 hour day yesterday and I'm back again today but won't stay late.
It's costing the client 300k a DAY in fines until the power is back on!

Yet another good reason to get a dog? Plenty of exercise , time away from the other half and you get to meet loads of like minded people.

Probably the worst place to have a fault, there aren't really any temporary options such as a generator while you fix the issue. Have they got folks in on night shift as well?.

Oh what fun, I remember it well. Normally they would get back in touch telling me that another garage had quoted less than I had. "Well take it there then" was my reply.
Same with diagnosis. I'd have a look, say it needs this , that and the other, only to be told that another garage had told them it needs something totally different.
Same reply as above from me.
I knew they'd be back, and my bill would be higher because I'd have to put right all the things that the other garage had c*cked up.
I don't miss it all one little bit.

We use busbar to feed machine tools, but not offices.
Please 'splain some more.

Due to the size of the building (900+ apartments) the mains intake will probably feed a 3 phase busbar chamber which will supply a number of something like Ryefield boards to provide a fused supply to each apartment.

I worked for my Dad from aged 16 to 18. In his garage...

Aged 18 - I opened my own garage - 41yrs late I still trading out of the same premises.

I rented it at the start - then I bought it from the Landlord.

I had 41yrs of the bottom end - bargin basement - end of life car repairs.


I must be able to do it - as I would have starved to death trying if I could'nt....


But retirement cannot come quick enough - my patience is running out!
