Peugeot Expert/Adblue delete?

My brother is looking to replace is 10 year old Peugeot Partner and fancied an Expert for a little more space.

There is a 2020 2.0 Adblue version with 80k miles for sale locally, t I am concerned with horror stories of costly adblue component failures - is an Adblue delete a good solution?

Any other common faults with these to be aware of?

The big issue with AdBlue is running the system to low, allowing crystals to form.
Get it checked out, keep the adblue toped when the light comes on. It will be Ok, our neighbour has one, the costly part is finding out what part has failed.
Injector or the relay are known weak parts.

Adblue systems do give alot of trouble. Nox sensor issues etc.

The worst thing is once a fault is detected under legislation the car has to start a countdown timer to no starts. So adblu faults will completely disable a car if not attended to promptly.

I have a 2018 Merc 220C and the PO had thd adblu programmed out. Cost him quite a bit to have a specialist programme it out correctly.

Importantly the adblue fittings are all still there, no change for MOT man. But the car ignores the system and any faults within it. Still doing its proper dpf regens etc as that is a different module.

Personally my preference would be to code it out. But only if it can be done correctly, dont pick the cheapest guy to do it.

FWIW I had this done in Inverness to slightly newer Partner, I can't remember it's exact year. Even as I was considering having it done I thought it a bad idea and I wasn't proven wrong. It never ran properly again and cost me about £500 to have it repaired at a main dealer. I PXed it when they'd fixed it, I wanted a larger van anyway.

My habit with Adblue on the new van, a 20 plate Vivaro is to top it up every couple of weeks or after a long journey. It's not caused me any problems yet, 20 or 30K miles so far IIRC, maybe more.

I did a lot of asking around and mostly the replies were 'Get someone who knows what they are doing'. Wow, that had never occurred to me.

My brother is a gardener, does lots of short journeys, only 7 or 8k miles a year which may make matters worse.

Had an Adblue issue on a previous Citroen where the remedy was a replacement adblue tank. I believe it was the pump that failed but with it being integral to the tank the whole shooting match needed replaced. Cost to do so through the stealers was nigh on £3k! £250 to a bloke and the adblue system and ancillary gubbins was all turned off. Didn’t have any issues with it thereafter.

With it being a bit newer he may want to read up on alterations to the DPF / EGR systems whilst he’s at it.

Unfortunately he only has on street parking, so not easy to charge.

I have a 2014 dispatch, previous model to that one.
The adblue system wasn't working properly and the dpf blocked up. It was going to need a new adblue pump, new dpf plus programming everything in. I was probably looking at a £3k bill.

Instead I went to a local guy he programmed it out, gutted the dpf and remapped the van. Only cost me £220 and it has transformed the van. A bit more power, loads more torque and around 15% easier on fuel!
