Looking really nice spanners what do you use

Im looking a set of spanners (non ratcheting)6-32 they are alot of crap out there what do you all use? just seen a brand king tony never heard of them

I have a few King Tony items made in Taiwan. Good strong stuff.

It's hard to recommend brands as I think old vs new stuff can be very different quality. Best to see things for yourself or but a sample to try out.

Wurth have some nice ones as well sometimes.
They tend to change suppliers but all of the suppliers are usually decent brands. When they have an offer on they are a lot cheaper than the oem branded ones.
If you can track down a rep they normally do you even more discount on the first order to try.and sign you up..

My Imperial spanners are mainly Britool and Geodore - all excellent quality if you go second hand, most came from my dad.

For metric I have a Teng set I have had 30 years plus and I really like them (and never bent one, even when using a bit pipe for leverage.

I also bought a Halfords advanced set when on sale - was a bargain though the shiny finish can get a little slipy.

I got a Wera Joker set for a present a few years ago, are well made though as other say they are quite a thin section so can get uncomfortable on your hands when straining.

I must confess that I do like my older unfinished spanners over the modern shiny chrome one for feel. Chrome ones do get slippery.

They don't tend to go rusty either, once they have a bit of oil on them.

I bought a full Snap-on set for work, at home Halfords professional are good enough (not as nice as my Snap-on but multitudes cheaper).

All depends on your budget really.

Another here for the Halfords Pro or the Facom, they are the most recent i have purchased, both quite good in the hand and decent holding on most stuff. got some Kenedy and Wera stuff, but not enough to make comparison.
Have full set of Snapoff but they are now 40 years old!! so not representative of modern stuff.
Did like some of the MAC spanners, but again a bit expansive.
A lot of it is down to budget

Halfords Pro from the mid 2000s were indistinguishable from Signet spanners from around the same, both brands have had a couple of major changes since then unfortunately as they were both excellent for the money.

Kennedy Pro, have their 6-32mm set

Also have Snap On 8-19mm I bought years ago and they are good but needed to replace my odd ball collection of larger sizes so bought the Kennedy Pro and very happy with them

I still have my Britool combination, offset ring, and mini ring sets that I bought as an apprentice about fifty years ago, but I do wonder if the current offerings would stand up to the same use as mine have over such a long period without failure.

I still have some of the Britool spanners as well, I had a set of AF open ended & a set of Minirings, bought in 1965 when I left school. I only worked in the garage about 6 months until I thought “this isn’t for me” Britool stuff in those days was thought to be the dogs wotsits. Having your toolbox broken into by a so-called workmate & some of the spanners stolen made my mind up to go, I spotted the spanners with my initials ground off in his box.
