More on the clean out.
I forgot all about this spot / flood light i had. And I fitted a cheap one from Screwfix last year. And well it failed so this could be rhe job for over the drive hahaha.
Just need to get a good PIR sensor for it.
Over the years its been busier and busier around here. Dont know why whenever they have built more houses yet.
But my god its time for revenge on the bright car lights flying up and down this road haha. Mm how sensitive shall I set it haha.

A couple of mirrors at 90 degrees to each other, in a corner configuration, and installed vertically about half way between headlight and driver height, should sort out the bright headlights brigade. A 150W LED floodlight isn't very neighbour friendly, unless it's pointing straight down. I have a couple of 10W LED floods outside, and they are kept pointed straight downwards. Plus they only get used occasionally.

Guy where I used to live got a suspended sentence for deliberately impairing the vision of car drivers after one got dazzled by his 'security' light, mounted the kerb and hit a woman that he couldn't see due to the sheer brightness of this light pointed directly at the road because he was fed up of people driving down the road with main beams on...

If you look where you're going instead of gawping at oncoming headlights like a deer you don't get dazzled.

You should try driving an MX5 as a daily. There's no avoiding most of them.

The cut off is above eye level on the bigger ones so you get the lot.

I drive an MGF as a daily.
You will only get dazzled if you look directly at the source of the light, even looking a tiny bit away will prevent it.

It may still be possible to use averted gaze with older style headlights oncoming, but the sheer brightness, and blue light content of modern LED headlights can make it completely impossible to see anything past the glare I've even seen the white lines on main roads disappear in the glare. It may be slightly better if your own headlights are LED glare machines, but I refuse to buy a vehicle with LED headlights, for this very reason. Essentially you're driving blind, which is a terribly dangerous situation, especially if there are vulnerable road users about, e.g. cyclists and pedestrians. Street lighting can make a big difference, but most out of town roads don't have lighting, except maybe at some junctions and roundabouts.

Well I have to disagree. I have never had any problem that I can recall, perhaps some drivers are irresistibly drawn to look at the headlights? I would agree that it can be annoying at times especially with a tall vehicle in my mirror, but that can be minimised with the dip flip on it. Even with my astigmatism and spectacles, approaching lights haven't been what I would call dangerous. The oncoming vehicle "throws more light on the subject" too.

try driving a crane or truck, a lot of these cars that now have the audi style adaptive headlights seem to jus throw light upwards when it sees another vehicle coming towards it...not so bad in the crane as its left hand drive but i took out artic out the other night and it was brutal

I think it’s become a “thing” where people react to high beam as soon as they see it coming …. Even if it’s still me at 3 miles away….

well yes, but some folk think there better and need to do what they want without a care or thoguht for anybody else. Yes some of it is down to manufacturers and i believe its being looked into, no pun intended. For folk to think there is no problem...well there you go, Folk are mugs to new ` betetr` things and ignorant to others as;logn as they get it.

Still this thread was not about blinding ignorant drivers. more on the size of my `whopper` flood lgiht haha
