Narrow column radiator - electric

I am after a vertical column radiator that needs to be 350 wide x 1300 high or as near as possible. It also needs to be electric.

Googlefoo is failing me but I am 99% positive there was a place that made them to measure, but for my life can't find it.

Any recommendations, thoughts or ideas?

You can get a screw in heater to convert any rad, just use glycol and biocide

Ah ok that might work, there are more size options for 'wet' radiators

Of course, at 350 wide it will only be a short heating element i can get in there.

Unless I can find one with a hole underneath

@Kayos @brightspark appreciate your help! - Before I hit the 'spend' button, would this rad work ok with something like this thermostatic element?
This rad seems to be the only one available in a range of sizes that fits the gap.

I'd need to check the length of the element after i have the rad in hand. Chuck in some Glycol and Fernox F7 biocide?
300W element on a 13A spur?

just typed in the model and it says they fit. if it were me id ring the makers up with the size and ask what element fits just looked again they do the central heating ones or just electric but dont mention dual fuel

Can't see from the pics, if it has an elbow on the inlet then no, if it's straight into the bottom tube then yes

Most designer style are straight in but fussy on flow/return due to internal design, I'd be putting the heater on the flow, if marked

Yes on the biocide as well, or it will end up stagnant

Have a look at bathroom towel radiators. You normally get the option of central heating or electric and some of the designer ones wouldn’t look out of place outside the bathroom

Normally they have some sort of baffling inside to shop the water passing straight along the bottom of the rad and back down the return

I think they're normally removable... so you can put them in either side to suit your flow/return pipework layout

I got hold of a decent rad and an element as below.

It's just a small flat panel rad, not connected to CH - just stand alone electric.

The instructions say just connect it up with a 5A fused spur but does it need some form of a control circuit - would just switching it on and leaving it on cause it to overheat? Should I put it on a thermostat or a timer?

With regards filling it - Deionised water and this?, leaving a bit of room for expansion?

most dont have a thermostats unless you pay for and get one thats fitted they wont overheat as there not very powerfull fitted 3 in the last month in some refurbed flats. you can put them on a timer if u feel the need most leave them on in the winter 24 hours to keep bathroom warm

Having it on a switched spur and just switching it off in Summer would be the ideal way

thats ok spur outside bathroom and just an outlet conection plate on the heater cable or the flex pushed through the wall on a back to back in to spur

Assume electric element has some sort of thermostic control.

Would you use a pressure relief valve at the top of normal radiator...? If it was a sealed system...? Or leave it vented...?

Or am I overthinking this...?

over thinking it it doesnt need a thermostat the elements not powerfull enough to overheat and expand enough in pressure to cause damage. they wouldnt sell them if it did

just dont fill them up all the way leave 2 inches empty at the top
