The latest Makita cordless ones (not fakita) have kickback sensors/accelerometers and will cut out before anything bad happens, and a good reason to consider paying the full price for one. They have a good amount more power on the XGT version.
You can get battery cable adaptors, so weight of the battery is on belt or shoulder strap. I've got one for the XGT tools but rarely use it.
However I found a die grinder unsuitable for chainsaw sharpening, too heavy for precise delicate one handed use.
For smaller, delicate work, the Milwaunkee M12BLROT weighs only 560g with battery fitted, has a decent brushless spindle and 300w power. I'm very impressed with it so far. 3mm/1/8" collet.
I find that very odd, the batteries are not heavy and its well balanced, compared to the tool and cable weight. I try to avoid getting cabled tools out, much easier to pick up a battery and go.

Same here. There's added cost with battery gear in the batteries, though. As you say, there are usually added benefits with things like kick-back & drop control features.
I've not bothered mentioning which model I have of 18V straight grinder, with paddle switch, because I assumed the O.P wouldn't be interested, due to his spec. of corded.
Looking at corded, it does appear there is only one, 110V model, in the Bosch range which has a paddle switch.
to be honest, i just think i see no need for the faff of batteries, it will be used mainly at a bench in the garage next to an outlet. corded always seems to have more power with no need to recharge batteries, especially as i only have 2 makita batteries (ones a 3ah). dont really fancy another platform as the rest of my cordless stuff is Festool

that looks like a nice piece of kit. same price as the makita 8mm though (corded), im currently settled on the Bosch corded which is about 170, without paddle but not the end of the world.Fair points.

Im really trying to be a tool minimalist, so i could do without more choice. I dont intend being in the country in the next few years so i need to ship everything i have.

Cable, paddle switch, variable speed, soft start and kickback protection.
Still seems to be a current model with all 4 sizes of collet available

I looked for the LPS but it seems to be unavailable....which is a shame
