pressure washer hose repair - possible?

Ive got a domestic pressure washer - the blue one, nilsfick or something. (i know i could google it!)

Anyway, its got a 3rd party hose on it, thats some sort of rubber material, vs the harder plastic that they normally come with.
It got something dragged over it and now leaks.


The original connections at each end are some sort of crimp thing, which, even if i could find, i would not have the tooling to re-apply them.
Whats the chance of me being able to get a dual hose tail coupler and a couple of t-bolt clamps (fancy jubilee clips) and it will work?



Its a domestic unit, which is not nice to get your hand under, but does not cut the skin instantly, so not that high pressure.
I assume the crimp connectors must have somthing inside the hose, so they must reduce the bore anyway, so an additional constriction should be passable, right?

Easier said than done. Everywhere like that is a fair bit of drive time.

I don't want to spend much cash either as the pressure washers days are numbered as it is, and it would be throwing good money after bad.

Ie I'm willing to spend a few quid on a tail and a couple of clamps, but not £35 on a new hose.

Do you have an hydraulic crimper?
The one for the electrical contractors
Because you may be able to crimp a thin walled tube on the barbed fitting

Don't do it. I have seen hoses repaired with all sorts of home brew joints and they don't work and create a serious hazard.
When your home made joint blows off you have a hose flailing around pumping out at high pressure possibly with the extra weight of your joint and clamps.
It can do a lot of damage before you get the pump turned off.
Take it to a decent hydraulic place and get it jointed. But if its not a wire reinforced hose or its outer rubber is worn they may not fix it.

A joint is going to cost you at least £20. Plus the fuel and time wasted. For the few £ extra I'd fit the new hose.

Hmm, that's not stictly true I'm afraid. Even a lowly consumer pressure washer will happily deglove you if water gets in through a thin patch or cut in the skin. You don't want to find a leak in a high pressure system with any part of your body.

But I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you hoping to fix a leak or replace the entire hose? You could encapsulate a leak by potting it in an epoxy sleeve for example. Would look clunky and be somewhat restrictive on the flexibility of the hose but for a cheap fix will certainly be worth the effort. FWIW, I'd probably also wrap the puncture in epoxy soaked kevlar thread or somesuch (lit. "whip" with thread).

Regardless of the safety aspect..
Pressure washer hoses are a nightmare to deal with. It's bad enough trying to coil one up let alone drag one across the ground when it's got a lump in the middle of it.

Just buy a decent quality new hose with threaded couplings on each end.
Then you can just keep it and change the ends when you replace the pressure washer

There is also the issue if you wash your car with it. Sods law dictates that you will scratch the paint with the joint in the hose!
