Stupid Pointless Facebook Ads

I'm looking for a tractor (hydrostatic drive, over 25HP at the PTO in case anyone has one going spare)

But the point of the post is that locally there are two listed on Facebook, both with unrealistically low asking price, listed by "sellers" who don't respond to any contact. Both "sellers" have multiple other listings, all at fantasy prices and they've gone to some trouble drawing up the advert description and photos.

What's the scam, what do they get out of it?

They are ignoring you because you are local enough to collect.

They'll respond to messages asking for postage and then get you to pay upfront for an item that never gets delivered.

I knew a guy who fell for the scam and shelled out around 6 grand for a non existing narrowboat despite being warned by various people that it was dodgy.
