Hi, This is metalpods, a new member, sometimes a welder of highly questionable ability though I did some quite fine work IE sub 3 mm in titanium some time ago ....
But tonight I have a Fobco problem, and I saw there are some here with experience and as also a welding forum an understanding of electrical devices which I am limited in.
I bought my Fobco star in Birmingham in 1986, it was already old, fast forward to now and for years now it has tripped the power every few times it has been used. I finally gave in and stripped the motor.....
One wire from the field coils had only a little insulation left on it and they were nearly all in a very poor state. I stripped them and shrink wrapped them but I was confused as to colours. I attach the connection cover plate which refers to blue red yellow and black but my wires were so discoloured and degraded I could only identify:
A pale yellow connected to the switch device then toAZ
A red wire also to AZ
A black wire which scrapes blue to Z
A green wire which goes to A
The starter cap connects A to Z
Live feed is to AZ
Neutral phase to A
So it all runs beautifully , no tripping but backwards!
Given the confused colours and my incompetence does anyone offer advice on which wires/ terminals to swap?
