well i do need something better to keep the welder on, its currently sat on my bench, although im partial to bought carts because they dont weigh the same as a 70s rolls royce.

I also would like an engineers vice as the recored 52 1/2 for woodwork isn't ideal, and maybe a bit of railway track as a makeshift anvil to bang on it just never ends lol

Id do that if i want something to last forever and be super sturdy, im just not sure being a hobbyist its worth it, besides i need to to easily dismantle for shipping when that time comes......although i have some sheet, some angle and some castors as well as an angle grinder for disassembly.

does anyone get the idea im an indecisive person

having removed all the previous machinery, im not about to fill it back up. ive only got another 3-4 years here

design it as two sides and bolt in shelves ,,, not only do you get welding practice you get some design experience too ,,, in fact , why not mock it up in freecad ,,, wow ,, its a steep learning curve about these parts

I used to use CAD for furniture stuff, but im actually more back of a fag-packet kinda person.

i dont expect it to be much IF i make one, a couple of angle rectangles (bigger at the bottom for gas bottle) infil with sheet, 4 uprights and some casters. maybe fancy it up with some hooks for leads out of some bent flat bar. slosh on a bit of hammerite and call it good

The R-tech ac/dc171 has HF start, lift start and scratch start options in the menu.
Just switch it to lift start and you can hold the torch which ever way you like without having to worry about the switch.

The problem I see with jumping ahead, is that I dont know when i need more amps or have too many, so for now at least ill just floor it and learn to taper off, but who knows, the times are getting weird

when what your welding falls apart when you lift it ,,,, you need more amps
when the weld puddle falls in your boots ,,, you need less amps

Well a start has been made....kinda.not the most perfect of fits but i can bodge it.

I then ran some T joint with a metronome which failed miserably, much better just to focus.

And alas I dont reckon I have enough angle to complete but thats ok because i dont fancy grinding off all that mill scale, I do have 5l of 40% vinegar though so ill give that a go

Why make just a trolley? Dive in and make yourself a bespoke water cooler for the welder to sit on top of so it all still rolls under the bench.... And yes, it was all welded with a torch button, just in 2" stitches to control heat.

nice job, but thats not something i could be bothered to tinker with. im going 2 shelf for a later edition of a cooler, but i have spent more than enough money of late.

in other news, any recommendations on easy mill scale removal? my garage stinks of vinegar
