I have one of these collet chucks on my M300 with the handle straight up....it's OK not as ergonomic but it keeps it out of the way

I copied it

I used a big 30mm milling bit.

Lots of chatter.

It seems to work just fine with a static test.

I need to remove the chuck guard or install an interlock bypass switch to actually test it under power.

Maybe make a spacer of some kind so you always install the bed clamp the same distance off the headstock. Or do a test to see how much tolerance you have on that distance.

A shoulder bolt for the pivot could be nice. Saying that, I wonder if there is a quick release pin that would be suitable - look up 'ball detent pin'.

I was also thinking a quick release pin will be nice.

I think there is a bit of tolerance for the clamp. I initially set it up so that the T bracket is 90 degrees when the chuck lever is between the open and closed position.

More playing and testing required.

Mine had a bush so when the pinch bolt is tightened it grips the bush rather than the end of the pivot arm.

That's a good idea. The clamp does need to be in roughly the right place.

I have no bush

I need to play with it to see if I actually need it. I have not done the nut up tight so it is not clamping onto the T bar bracket.

As you say, it's easy enough to make.
