think he means lift a 5M beam to 3 meters high...an average 5M beam is going to be well under a ton

depending on how far away the lift is from where the tele can sit...there is still a great deal of required info missing from the job requirements...

so far its a 5m beam being lifted into a basement down a slope with a short wall involved somewhere...

a picture would help ,,, Im imagining a garage door header with a downhill access and limited headroom , so lifting outside the garage and on the slope half way down ,,,, but thats just my mental image of the job

that was my intial mental image until i re-read the bit about a 0.3m height wall that i am assuming poses as an obstace to the entrance.

ive planned plenty of jobs off pictures and a few accurate measurements, and carried them out with hiabs, but this is sounding less and less like a hiab job and more like a specialist lifting job

im thinking living room over the garage entrance ,,, 70s style bungalow over garage on a slope drive
thats why I was thinking forks attachment rather than hiab , first lift forks low as normal , set it onto trestle / blocks , invert forks and pick up so beam is above forks and lift frame set into place ,,, cup of tea and a chocolate digestive ,,, go home.

To be fair a hiab with fly jib and good operator will lift things like this into some really awkward places through door and windows. But I am struggling to picture what is required. And access arrangements.
It could be that the genie lift option isn't a bad idea as they do some that will lift 800kg now. So two of them and you are well safe.
Also depends on how many. Is it one beam or a whole floors worth. Will make a big difference to the most economical route.

from what i can work out, the entrance is going to be substantially lower than then deck of a hiab bed, so getting down that low could be problematic, although if its not as low as i think it is then it could be a good option, but again there is a lot left out of the requirements to be able to make an informed decision

Yes definitely even from the description so far it sounds like it would have to be a fly jib hiab.

If its the Bison beam I am thinking about its the type used for block and beam floors, its like a concrete t section. Not that heavy, at 5mts you could probably get it up there with a pair of Donks.

me and my mate got in one, was on the back of a wagon we went up and over some cars fixing carpark floodlights fully extended it tipped over a bit and was only on outriggers on one side wheels of the deck on the wagon was like a bloody sesaw i went scatty came back down my mate got out and of loaded a few of the floodlights and i went back up

We were using a HR28 today that cocked a wheel when moving then auto-levelled when you stopped.

Just looked it up, and the heaviest is 330kg @5m, lightest 165kg I guess it depends how many there are.

So not that heavy. I will be doing this here at some time next year with 30 - 40 odd beams.

yea but when your up on one at full length out and up it drops a meter when moved and its alarm is going off its deffo not in its parameter

my crane is designed to operate at full capacity on 3 legs...one of my favourite things to do when someone comes running up to tell me the crane is about to tip over cos there is air beneath a rigger is to tell them calmly that if a dog can p*ss on 3 feet, so can i...the look of horror on their faces always makes me chuckle.

i had a renault truck with an atlas 135 grab on it that would lift the opposite leg with the brick grab at full extension even with nothing in it, and a hiab 158 that would do it with any more than 300kg on it
