Turned up a short while ago. It's bloody heavy, & big. That's four Makita 18V batteries in a caddy sat atop the box.





Asked the driver if he needed a signature, as I lifted it out of his van. Told him I'd just be a minute, save putting it down on the wet ground, & by the time I'd carried it up the seventeen steps to the flat, popped it down, & went back into the driveway, because he'd not followed me, he'd jumped in the driver seat & waved to me as he set off. Git. I've said it before & I'll say it again: I really need to find myself lighter hobbies/pastimes.

It's a commercially produced Voron 2.4 machine. Linear rails, with a 500mm³ print area. The framework is almost the full width of that box. Approx. 700mm width/depth, slightly higher in height, if I recall correctly.

I sense the negative reaction to literal translation but the OP did go out of their way to use the <cubed> symbol...

For reference only and not a criticism: a more commonly used term would be a "500mm cube". Shorthand for a cube having sides of 500mm. But I think we've done this to death now.

That is a seriously impressive printer volume!

Just things to play with. I have a Zero due too, tomorrow, so complete opposite end of the scale. The Zero should excel for single smaller prints.

The Voron is one that's always intrigued me, due to the gantry design/setup. There's no way on earth I would have ever set aside the time, or have had the inclination, to build one from scratch though.

Must say, even though I knew the outer dimensions of it, the size of that box yesterday did seem a tad larger than I expected. I think this one is definitely going to be a floor based machine in the corner of the living room. It'd have to be a large, sturdy bench, otherwise, to support this one.

Yes. Volume has a habit of being larger than the linear numbers might suggest.

You can do some perspective calculations so for example, increasing the size of an eight inch cube by a couple of inches will double its volume. Doesn't sound much until you see it or, if it's a solid steel cube, until you try and pick it up...

Was hoping it may have arrived a bit earlier than it has. Playing with it will have to await tomorrow now.

The Zero is a cute little beastie. Got it running a second test print, (benchy).



The first didn't go well.



I'd selected the Sunlu petg profile for the first test. Changed it to generic petg for this test. That Eryone petg can be finnicky stuff.

This one has completed okay.



Some stringing. That filament has probably absorbed some moisture, again. It's a bit of a dog in any of the printers unless I dry it just before use.

It's done. Definitely notable stringing. I'll try it with a different filament tomorrow.

The eddy bed level sensor is so much quicker in use than the standard method, & it appears to only check the print area, rather than the whole bed, before the print starts.

That Zero has had a makeover. Realised I liked the look of that bone white/ivory filament, so I've replaced all the baby blue plastic parts bar the printhead cover.

Replaced the black screws with stainless, whilst I was doing them.
