Acquired this cutie of a lathe for £50 , all the change gears legs and chip tray . Everything move smoothly and freely just need to source a motor now .would a dc motor be suitable?
How can you tell I'm curiousThat's a 4" machine, btw, not 3½".
As above, these are chasers for a die head, usually self releasing, looks like geometric brand/styleMotor sorted .I'll be on the lookout for a QC tool post ,looking at either a multifix or the 250-000 wedge style any suggestions .Also, I meant to ask, does anyone know what the items are in pictures 3/4

Not worth a carrot in my experience, not nowadays. The time and effort cleaning them up would outweigh any financial benefit.
You have to remember...
Have all thatYou could do with a countershaft between the motor and the lathe spindle. You'll also need a flat belt and suitable pulleys.
Think he was referring to the thread diesYou have to remember that not everyone needs or wants a large, fast machine. Home use is very different to commercial.
They look like Coventry dies . Look on the bay( or where ever ) for Coventry die box/head . Handy for production work .Motor sorted .I'll be on the lookout for a QC tool post ,looking at either a multifix or the 250-000 wedge style any suggestions .Also, I meant to ask, does anyone know what the items are in pictures 3/4
I think the comment above was aimed at the die chasers not the lathe.

Sorry, there has been a bit of mis communication here I think, I meant the thread chasers NOT the lathe, any lathe is better than no lathe and I have owned a Drummond in the past.
The thread chasers are just not wanted any more, except the odd one in Metric but even then, they don't bring any money.

Don't discount using a 4 way tool post.Motor sorted .I'll be on the lookout for a QC tool post ,looking at either a multifix or the 250-000 wedge style any suggestions .Also, I meant to ask, does anyone know what the items are in pictures 3/4
Having them around is very handy, even for a one off.Sorry, there has been a bit of mis communication here I think, I meant the thread chasers NOT the lathe, any lathe is better than no lathe and I have owned a Drummond in the past.
