Which printer?

Anyone have experience printing nylon or abs without a heated enclosure? Most of them claim they will do it, but does it work smoothely out of the box?
If so I will likely buy the P2S AMS combo.

I note that will Bambu list the engineering grade filaments, the other manufacturers generally dont, which makes me think Bambu will be best for that.

I worded that badly. It will have an enclosure but some are not heated. P2S being the example.

You really want an enclosure and good fume venting with ABS, it's not pleasant inside.

ASA as an alternative is worth looking at.

I have the p1s plugged into a smart plug. When printing abs I turn the printer on from my phone/ tablet and put the heated bed on for about 5 minutes before printing to heat the chamber. Always print abs with a skirt to help prevent lifting. The printer is in my workshop/ garage so I don't notice any fumes but might be a problem if you plan on having the printer indoors. The printer comes with a carbon filter as standard.

I've only ever printed with ABS, never had a heated enclosure - when I first build a 3d printer I read ABS was the strongest material so I bought that and stuck with it

used to print without an enclosure, was ok for small stuff, with bigger stuff or longer prints and enclosure is needed

with my first printer, probably 10 years ago (they were pretty basic back then) I'd turn the heated bed on for a while to heat the enclosure for a while before I set it printing

new printer (prusa mk4) I just set it printing and forget about it

I recently bit the bullet and bought some ABS to print on my Prusa MK3.5. I made a tent using a very large see-through plastic bag and preheated the bed to get the temperature of the enclosure up. I also cleaned the print plate thoroughly and printed with a skirt to aid first layer adhesion. No problem. I don’t intend to print much in ABS so my enclosure system will be used again when I need it.

I run all the printers via standard Orca, now. I don't bother using the manufacturers version.

Looks like Bambu ties you to using Bambu studio while others can use Orca. Whats the difference?

Is the p2s heated enclosure? I have heard too many problems with H2S.

I love my Elegoo Neptune 3 MAX. Works perfectly and will print huge. Think of something like a traffic cone or breeze block in size

That Neptune 4 Max I got, I am impressed with. Few teething issues, but nowt which couldn't be sorted. Can't fault the prints from it.

speak to @Onoff lad he uses Orca slicer over Bambu studio . So do I but not sure why. lol

But you can use Orca Studio if you dont go past a certain firmware and only use Lan mode.

I Likes using bambu Handy as I could start prints very quickly from your phone. It was useful if I was rushed and a print had finished OR I waas out and my lad dropped in to swap the plates over. I could at least keep the printer working. Its surprising how often I used that function. Its a shame Bambu does not allow us to use both methods and switch between the two.

No mate I used to use ABS Pro from steadytech. Sold by "the Box" but we cant get it any more. (Never found who made it)

I only used it on an Ender 2 with an 8mm Nozzle and a Mirror bed. Also used an ABS slurry.

ABS was used by @knighty I think.

As for ASA I am waiting for 3DQF to relist some as the first batch was snapped up before he announced it..lol 3DQF are venturing into a few specialist filaments and recently printed an awesome Sonic. its massive.

ABS / ABS Pro, I meant ABS in the general sense. We've never bothered with it since our original dismal failures on the Anycubic i3 Mega S.

Anycubic does the same. If you select LAN mode, you lose the app's ability.
