74 plate Volvo ain't cheap looks like all the airbags deployed so probably insurance write-off. Road is fairly straight on that section only two slight Hills behind the car and a 90° bend 50m in front... must have been on their phone

Hard to say what happened...could have been a car overtaking on the bend and had to ditch it to avoid a head on collision?

Years back I was called out to tow in an accident damaged vehicle. Normal questions asked, how badly damaged, is it off the road? No, it's just got one wheel on the pavement. I get there, and as the punter said, it's got one wheel on the pavement. Trouble was the other three were buried in a ditch.......

I passed a quite slow driving & just "not quite right" VW Transporter on the road near mine this morning.
I looked as I passed & sure enough a 30-something guy only looking down at his lap - almost certainly on his phone. He didnt even notice I was passing.
(I do wonder.... with new cars with these Lane Assist / Warning gadgets - do these nuggets feel safer & spend even more time scrolling & staring at their phone screens?).

Wrecked my '87 Mini swerving to avoid a car coming towards me in the middle of the road on a bend. Clipped the grass verge on left and plowed through a hedge and barbed wire fence landing in a field. Rebuilt it, teaching myself to weld use my first mig welder.That's giving me Mini flashbacks.

Despite the biggest signs I've ever seen, bridge strikes are still a common occurrence in my old home town.
There was a BMW in a field next to the road wheels akimbo with police tape on it here in Newquay a while back. My visiting grandchildren where fascinated by it every time we passed. Two months later on their next visit they looked out for it and it was still there just minus the wheels. Must be the world's easiest wheel-steal!

Used to get a chuckle out of the descriptions for completely destroyed vehicles...had 1 customer think they would get it cheaper if they didn't tell us it was a mangled wreck so they called it through as a cut out won't start fault...except the delivery address was a body shop...I got there and it's on its roof after rolling multiple times, every panel ruined, every air bag deployed, all 4 wheels pointing different ways, snapped springs, bent a pillars...I've got a photo somewhere I will try and dig out

And another I just found that was logged as a flat tyre...

Interestingly in England 3.3 metres equals 10' 9"
Using Google to convert 3.3 metres it gives 10' 8". That could explain why there are so many bridge strikes on that bridge in NI.
Rounding errors can be lethal!
EtA: We all know about that low bridge that suddenly started having strikes, don't we? The one where the highways resurfaced the road, but forgot to update the new clearance between the bridge and the raised road surface.................................
