Sanding back preparation

Hello
I am about to paint with rollers my van with hmg 14 line polyurethane paint. Im going to sand down the original paint before degreasing and tracking.
Anyone have any suggestions on what i need to sand down. Someone suggested 800 wet to me but i have an orbital sander i was hoping to use so its quicker it is powerful dont want to sand to bare metal just scuff

320 or 400 on a DA sander , red scotch pads where it cant reach

320/400 on a DA provides a good surface for applying topcoat. Its generally what i use on primer for spraying over.
A lot will depend on the condition of the existing paintwork, you can go finer just to scuff up, too fine and it won't key.

Thanks for the reply. I dont have a da sander i have an orbital would this be ok.
Im not going for perfect because its a diy job and a bit tatty right now so anything will be better than was it is like now
