Which primer

I think it's fair enough to try for a range of opinions/replies especially if you're new to a forum & don't know the characters involved.
Even here - shock horror! - there's a range of contributors some of whom may not really know what they're talking about but will give their opinion based on no expertise or experience. I'm not saying that's what's going on here just that the op is wise to look for a range of contributors and then try & find a way through.

Yes i think just trying to work it out and its hard to know with the range of info out there but i think im getting some clarity now....

I am apprenticed body and paint, but back in the late 1970s. I got out of it long ago so am not up to speed with modern products and methods, although I have always messed about cars and vans all my life.
You know what its like, the old methods and ways are the best, which is true to some degree with most things, but not others ! People will offer their opinions on products they have used, but have no direct experience of products that others recommend, so a difference of opinion does not always mean the other guy has no idea of what they are on about. As said, you have to find your way through.

Of course the internet is full of people who offer opinions but have no experience at all, other than what they have read about, or "they" say. Not very many of these on this forum I don't believe.

Personally I find Buzzweld to be sh*te.

I have a 1957 Wolseley car, and the floorpan inside has been covered with Bostik Flashband before my ownership. It was done as a clever bodge to cover serious rust. I didn't even spot it when I bought the car. It sticks and seals really well, and is a nightmare to remove., so my solution for the van floor would be this, provided that you are going to overlay with plywood.

Remove as much rust as possible back to shiny metal if possible, and any flaky paint. Key remaining metal and paint with abrasive paper and degrease with thinners. Brush on two coats, (or spray but brushing is less hassle and mess) of epoxy primer in quick succession. Leave for a few days to set, then cover the whole floor with flashband as it will seal all the holes no problem. Then cut and fit a plywood floor on top.

If anyone disagrees, they clearly have no idea what they are talking about

Hi thanks for the information .
What about my bonnet, can i brush that on or spray? Then will i have to get all spray kit?

Any Epoxy recommendations

i wonder if theres an easier way than getting all the spray gear, like if i can geta can to put it in to spray on bonnet

Great yes! If I'm buying the paint in a tin to do the floor wondered if it was possible to use this for bonnet rather than buying two products..... But sounds like spray is better for bonnet. ...
But your not sure if it's a good product.. @norsa could i brush on bonnet, or better to get a can...

if you want a brush painted finish on the bonnet then yes brush it on , for anything close to a nice finish it wants spraying either from a gun or a 2k rattle can

You definitely need to spray it if you want a decent finish. Might be cheaper to look for a used one in the same colour.

Well i will be painting over the primer on the bonnet and on the floor it will covered up. So either paint/roller it on. Or spray with an activator can. Im not going to get the spray gear im really after something functional that looks ok rather than anything really tidy. Thanks!!!
