Can anyone tell me what the swp mig welders are like that are on this site? as i hdo not know anything about them.

Made in China, presumably to SWP specs.
Seems ok and is currently being abused on a daily basis.

It's not a murex or anything fancy and it doesn't go particularly low so it'd struggle with bodywork but it seams like a decent honest welder

We got ours about april / may direct from SWP and it's most definitely Chinese

That's it, I'm tearing it apart on Monday.
It came on a Chinese pallet, in a Chinese box, wrapped with Chinese poly, had Chinese instructions and Chinese stickers that said "made in bloody china"
If there's a single thing that isn't Chinese I'll let you know, I have to look for the gas leak it's developed anyway............

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with being made in China, it's simply that China doesn't have the best reputation as far as quality control goes

Hello, l have SWP217 single phase welder has started splattering really bad you can find tune into range 12 but all other ranges it is impossible just spluttering like crazy so I’m starting to throw parts at it I’ve just bought four caps not fitted yet so I don’t know if this will fix it next it will be diodes I should think but I’m not electrical engineer or have experience. Am I going down the right road?
