Cheap NV, isn’t! Played with it last night after coming in from golf ball hunting with a UV torch. Another story! The ir I put on the NV bins, is old school. So big and bulky. Got me thinking of alternatives, dangerous as the wife was at work! I’ve now ordered a short picatinny rail to screw and glue on the bottom of the unit, to this I’ll add an adjustable mount and light weight but more powerful ir torch. I’ve justified the new ir torch as my old DFK steams up, totally fixable and I will fix it. I just needed an excuse for when my wife sees the invoice If that fails, I will be in the dark side of life permanently. She works in the hospital A&E, so I’ve no chance of survival

Same applies to a lot of stuff we get, when you think about it. I was thinking, just the other day, that the tinkering, improving, refining etc. we tend to do with things is as much fun/enjoyment as the initial purchase/appropriation. There's always room for improvement.

She’s like an elephant never forgets. I’ll give you an example, sometime between 1987 and 1991, I brought home a dead adder. Knowing full well she was and still is terrified of snakes. Our house was quiet, very very quiet, she was quiet because she was scared. I was quiet, thinking, WTF have I done and what’s happening next. Can’t recall fully what was said but very many four letter words were said, then quiet for two weeks! Every now and then it’s gets mentioned, I fear the day she gets her own back on me

Its all in the selection process… yesterday I mentioned to my Mrs I might have a new gun…I was expecting the why whats wrong with the ones you have. But she says “ Do what you like its your money”. Im still wondering if its code for something else.

But she did suggest the price of an AI was ridiculous for a bit of metal tube with a few bits added.

I did a firearms training course earlier this year. The guy who ran the course uses a AI rifle, it’s nearly had 20 thousand rounds through it. Still a tack driver. It’s looked after. The longest serving rifles ive had are Remington 700s. My 270 last ten years and 5000 rounds, my 243 seventeen years and no idea on the round count. Worst, Sauer 202, two years and les than 1000 rounds through it. All mine get cleaned after use, wether I’ve fired one or a hundred rounds

No sorry on the swap…As for the AI rifle though I can afford it, I couldn't justify it, would offend my tight jewish farmer culture. Im the same clean after every use too.
