Both of those would seem to be suitable unless you're somewhere *really* cold.

The book calls for ACEA A5/B5 etc. though, and the GSF stuff is C5. I'm vaguely aware of the technical differences between the two grades (A/B is high SAP, C is low SAP), but I've no idea of the effect on your car (if any).

I have a prejudiced opinion that 'thin' oils (e.g. 0W20) are mandated for fuel economy reasons, but something a bit 'thicker' (but within the recommended range) is better for engine life, without a noticeable effect on fuel economy - Sometimes there are different grades recommended for non-EU countries which might be nearer what the engine designer wanted.

C is extended drain oil. 12,000mile intervals killed my turbo
Sometimes there are oil powered systems in the engine that needs the thin stuff, variable valve timing etc

The Xw20 reccomendations are mainly for the American market, where the makers put as thin as possible in, to help nudge the whole fleet economy figure up a bit.
If it were mine, I'd just use 5w40, which is perfectly allowable in the European market, and 'cos I've got loads of it.

Went for this in the end.

Even the Honda parts bloke said their service guys just put Comma 5W-30 in everything "from a big drum round the back".
