Stupid idea. Caravan office

I built a cheap, non fancy shed office, but I have decided the best option is to rent a proper office

Currently pay £200 per month for a decent sized space, town centre location, big enough for 2 people and no utilities etc on top, plus I get 100% rate relief

It's also part of a business hub so has a communal area, coffee machines etc

Yes it's cheap because it is part of a social enterprise, had I known about it I wouldn't have even built the garden office

I rented one for several years near me, I found it much better to be in a work environment and not have the distraction of emptying the washing machine / dishwasher or popping to the shops.

Shipping container.
Fit a door (nicely) and do a proper (heavy-duty) job with the conversion.
Basic and simple is fine.
You'll make a decent profit if you need to sell it then.


An old caravan will be a pain to give away. You'll probably end up paying for disposal..

Thanks for all the replies.

I am aware of planning issues, but I already have a 20' lorry body stashed away so it shouldn't be an issue.

Unfortunately its not for my own business I am PAYE so can't anything much and although a container would be ideal its out of price range.

I am still undecided as I do worry about the damp as I have computers, electronics and test gear to be put in there. I think I am going to keep my eye open for a old bt body or luton body tbh.

We used our PC for nearly 10 years, we sold and serviced radio communicatins equipment.
A lot of expensive calibrated test equipment 3/40k never had any problem with damp it was not new when we got it.
It was insulated and had a formica finished board linings, a decent carpet and the air con/heater made it very nice, neither customers or reps seemed to find it down market.
If they did it never showed inbotom line
